This luxurious, privately run lodge is located 29 km south east of Windhoek and about 75 km from the airport, making it the ideal beginning or even better, as in our case, the perfect ending to a memorable Namibia trip. GocheGanas is situated high on a hilltop with breathtaking beautiful views onto the awesome Namibian landscape. This luxurious lodge offers a unique combination of wildlife, nature and wellness experiences.

“GOCHEGANAS” means “place of camel thorns abounding with candle-pod Acacias” in the Damara language.

The lodge has sixteen spacious and elegantly designed chalets, each with an en-suite bathroom, private wooden terrace, air conditioning, TV, mini-bar and telephone. One definitely does not need the TV here, as the bush TV is much more interesting.....

Do you already know the swallow-tailed bee-eater?

It breeds in savannah woodlands of sub-Saharan Africa. It is partially migratory, moving in response to rainfall patterns. This species, like other bee-eaters, is a richly coloured, slender bird.

 It can reach a length of 20–22 cm.

This attractive bird is readily approached. Just as the name suggests, bee-eaters predominantly eatinsects, especially bees, wasps and hornets, which are caught in the air by sorties from an open perch.

My kids and wife loved the room and facilities and the outstanding view. Some of the staff was still there, the last film was in 2008, and we had tears in the eyes, seeing each other again. it was FAMILY. The Ladies in our family are vegetarian and the cock produced some delicious meals for them, my son was eager to try the Oryx Steak and loved it. [...]

PS: And a brand new Mountain Bike, wow, must admit it slightly killed me after the wonderful dinner and breakfast, a new possibility to see the animals, great!"

Untamed Wilderness

Only when the last of the Animals Horns, Tusks, Skin and Bones are sold, will Mankind realize that Money can never buy back our Wildlife! 

The young family, Martin & Zissy Frommhagen with their daughter Anneke from Germany, chose to take part in our White Rhino Program.

A selected animal was found to be the solution for a prosperous breeding herd. The White Rhino Bull was introduced at the crack of dawn on the 8th of August 2002. Trained trackers followed his path to monitor his condition and behavior. It was found, that the bull, originating from the famous Ongava Ranch (south of the Etosha Pan), was doing extremely well.

Today he roams together with a female cow and her calf and the signs are positive, that soon another unique creature will catch the sight of light.

The eland is the largest living antelope 

Dominant males are solitary and assess each other's strength by locking horns, trying to throw the opponent to the ground 

The strongest males make a loud clicking sound that can be heard by rivals more than a mile away 

A female's horns grow to 63 cm, while a male's horns grow twice as long.
